Telling the Truth

Today I'm asking my intermediate level students to discuss these questions:

1. What is the difference between a fact and an opinion?

2. When you want to find out if something is a fact, where do you go? Name at least four sources for factual information.

3. When you hear someone repeat a lie, what is your response?

4. How do you know when someone is telling you the truth, whether it's on TV, in a newspaper, on the radio, or in person?

You can post one or more responses to these questions.

1.Fact is reality or truth on the other hand opinion is one persons view and attitude.
2. I don't know.
3. My response is my opinion.
4. if it's on media, they are resposible to tell the truth.

A source is a person or place where you can get information. So to answer that question you could have referred to just about anything that's reliable--the library, a newspaper, a book, the internet, your friends. It's important to verify information from multiple sources rather than depend on just one.

Yes, the media are responsible for telling the truth, but they don't all do a very good job of it.
